As lawmakers in the United States of America are beginning to debate on the state of defense in the country Hillary Clinton is defending the stand for allowing a certain section of illegal immigrants to serve in the U S military, it was reported.
The announcement was made during Clinton’s run for presidency campaign last Tuesday, as debate began on a policy bill on defense that would include a provision encouraging unlawful immigrants to serve in the military forces. This would provide them with a choice of making a fast- track to citizenship. It was also sought to call for a study of the impact on allowing DREAMers’ to serve in the military. DREAMers’ is the term used to describe illegal immigrants who were brought in as children.
Hillary Clinton stated that “If these courageous young men and women want to serve, they should be honored and celebrated, not discriminated against. Hillary Clinton is committed to comprehensive immigration reform to strengthen families and our country”.
This position by the 2016 Democratic presidential contender has heartened immigration enthusiasts and the Democrats who feel that it would help to strengthen support from the Hispanics.
This provision in the area of immigration has created one of the thickest fights in the House, especially in the Defense bill, a bill that would monitor funding and activities in the Pentagon.
