  • The effect of Vaccination exemption on early childhood may result in disease outbreaks
  • 27-Aug

An estimated 6 million to 9 million lives worldwide, including the lives of nearly 3 million children are saved due to vaccination, a powerful tool that has helped public health interference and at a reasonable price. More than 95 percent of childhood diseases are prevented due to vaccination. It has indeed helped in minimizing or in some diseases eliminated the outbreaks of certain diseases that were once fatal to large number of people like measles and polio in the United States and smallpox worldwide. As the bacteria and viruses that spread the diseases still exist, the only way to get or prevent the outbreak is through vaccinations.

Vaccination not only protects the individuals but bestows a broader protection for the communities. When sufficient high proportions of population are vaccinated against communicable diseases, the entire population can obtain protection.  With the increase in the number of vaccinated people the likelihood of contacting the disease even if they come across unvaccinated person commonly called as Herd Immunity will come down.

Herd immunity applies to those who are more vulnerable to communicable disease, they are people who cannot be vaccinated either because they are too young or due to their immunological condition that makes vaccination too risky, or some just go off without vaccination due to religious or personal beliefs or in some cases, those who have been vaccinated but their immunological response is insufficient to protect them from potential infection.

As children are vulnerable to certain diseases and vaccines help the body to develop disease immunity over time, many vaccines are therefore administered to children at a very young age as per the recommended immunization schedule.  Most of the children who do not go for vaccination fall under unvaccinated or under vaccinated. Unvaccinated children remain so mainly due to parental decisions.

Since communicable diseases cannot be stopped from spreading by air, the US administrator has enforced strict Immigration Medical Exam for all the immigrants who want to enter the United States and are those applying for green card, they need to mandatorily go through Immigration medical exam and only when they are cleared by the civil surgeon they are given the Citizenship. This is basically to restrict the entry of any contagious or communicable disease from entering or spreading in the country.

  • Broader move on legal immigration to be re-considered by President Obama
  • The nation’s immigration system is being re-considered by President Obama on request from various groups.

After immigration efforts having collapsed at the Congress level, President Obama hint that he would adopt go beyond the expected relief from deportation for some immigrants in the US illegally.  President Obama is considering key changes in the nation’s immigration system by tech, industry and powerful interest groups that will affect the Republicans election.

Even though the reform is still on hold, some of the requests that have been put by the business and family groups are the change in the way green cards are counted; advocates speculate this would help in freeing nearly 800,000 additional visas in the first year of the reform implementation.

The reform would help in minimizing the visa tailback for business seeking global talent, abridge the green card line for those being sponsored by relatives, a wait that can drag for nearly 25 years, and reduce the incentive for illegal immigration by creating more legal avenues for those wanting to come, as well as those already here. This would ultimately bring down the illegal immigration community numbers in the US and help in producing more green card citizens as the immigrants are very much needed for the economic growth of the country.

Extension of work permit to the spouses of all temporary H1-B skilled workers and enabling the spouse to return to their native home land at least three years before they can go in for US green card citizenship are some of the other requests that has been put up.

  • Unaccompanied youngsters labeled as “Racist”
  • Anti- Immigration insists on not being labeled unaccompanied youngsters as racist.

Protesters at anti-immigration demonstrations around the country insist that the unaccompanied children are not racist and they want the minors to be allowed to enter the US legally, as the children cannot qualify to apply for visas under any existing US immigration category.

The main reason for children fleeing the northern triangle of Central America is the large number of gangs terrorizing people through extortion, drug-turf war and no jobs. Sadly children are the victims of a depraved, corrupt society.
