A woman from Guatemala along with her 12 year old daughter who were deported back to their country last week were ordered by a federal judge to be returned immediately, have been found and could soon be back in the United States, this was stated by their attorney.
Both mother and daughter came from Guatemala last year and were held in a Pennsylvania family detention center last summer, as the immigration case for them wound its way through the court system.
Last week they were taken out of the detention center, put on a plane to be flown out of the country. But a US Court Judge ordered them to be brought back, stating that the court had been misled.
The judge also said that he would have given a request to have the deportation blocked if he had known about it. The woman’s attorney stated that ICE – Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials should have informed the court that the woman was going to be deported along with her child. However, ICE does not inform either the lawyers, detainees of their families when it was going to pick somebody up for deportation. The attorney stated that deportation was definitely better than being sent back to a country of violence
